Malawian Poets Selected for Afrikan Stories for Social Change Programme

Two Malawian poets, Q Malewezi and Dark Shadow, have been selected to participate in the Afrikan Stories for Social Change Programme in Accra, Ghana, from April 14 to 16, 2025. Q Malewezi will serve as a mentor, while Dark Shadow will be one of the 20 storytellers.

As a celebrated poet and President Lazarus Chakwera's special adviser on creative industries, Q Malewezi brings a wealth of experience to the programme. He will be mentoring young multimedia storytellers alongside award-winning South African photographer Andrew Tshabangu. Q emphasized the power of storytelling in shaping narratives, preserving culture, and driving change.

Dark Shadow, a poet, writer, and spoken-word artist, has been selected as one of the 20 storytellers. Her art explores themes of love, loss, justice, and human rights. As an advocate for youths and women's empowerment, Dark Shadow champions education, art, and well-being as forces for change.

Both Q Malewezi and Dark Shadow will represent Malawi at the programme, sharing African stories and promoting social change through art and poetry.
